From "Made in Japan" to "Made in India"

I would like to see the above transition happen. I think that will mean something for us as Indians. This is not a reality today as we all know. Making 'Made in India' a name to reckon with requires serious effort from all quarters - government bodies, industrialists, professionals, academicians and even ordinary citizens.

This should really start with us - the ordinary citizens. If we demand high standards everywhere, the service providers will soon need to change gears to meet up with the enhanced expectations.

The other side to this is: can we really afford to do this? With a significant majority struggling below the poverty line and having to constantly worry about their next meal, this idea sounds Utopian.

What's the way out then? Not sure... business excellence in this context should probably encompass all walks of life and must include the business of governing a country in addition to what we normally understand from the word "business".
